Every Christmas and Birthday I get a bunch of cards that I would like to keep, but I didn't really know what to do with them. About 5 years ago I came upon this idea from a scrapbooking magazine (I don't remember which one), and now I made a page in my scrapbook for every event that I have cards that I want to keep. I scrapbook by year, so this method fits in really well, and it's nice to go back and look at the cards from year to year.
The page is a pretty easy one to make. It is a simple pocket page, where you attach a second peice of cardstock to the front of your base page. When you attach it, only do so on three of the four sides so that you have a place to slide your cards into. For this page, I used my Sew Easy. I thought that sewing the pages together might be a little stronger than using glue. To finish it up, I decorated it using some stickers and chipboard letters. Now I can slide this page in my 2012 scrapbook and my christmas cards have a new home. We are always looking for fun things we can do as a family. I found an exhibit at the Heard Museum in McKinney, Texas, called Dinosaurs Live. It was really neat, life size dinosaurs on a nature trail. Dallas was a little uneasy at first, but once he realized that they were not real, he really liked it. This also gave me a chance to use my Dinosaur Tracks cartridge, which I have had for over a year. I just love how I was able to create everything, the dinosaurs, the palm trees, and the mountains with the same cartridge. I also used my cuttlebug to give the dinosaurs some texture and really make them come alive. Materials Used: Cricut: Dinosaur Tracks Cuttlebug: Tiny Bubbles Paper: Sold Cardstock scraps Ribbon: from scrap stash Ink: Stamping up - Close to Coca and Creamy Caramel (I inked the edges of all the cuts)
So, I know that Dallas birthday party was way back, the first weekend of October, but I have just now been able to take some time to scrap the pictures. I took around 200 pictures that day, I know, a bit overkill, I can't help it. Part of the excess number of pictures is that my cousin Alexis took my camera for a while, and had a great time, she got some great shots as well. I think I will push her to take the photography class for her elective next school year. This page took me about 20 min to complete. The first thing I did was cut out the firetruck using my Beep Beep cricut cartridge. I cut it at 4 in, I wanted it to be pretty big. Next I found the paper, I knew I wanted to use the star paper, but it was really bright, so cutting it down to use as a border worked great. I bought the "fire fighter" title, and used it as is. Then it was just choosing which of the 200 picures to use, I choose two of my favs, and really the two that I think really represented the day. If you ask Dallas what the best part of his party was, he will tell you that it was the cake and the firetruck bounce house. The last thing I did was cut out a small picture of Dallas to put in the firetruck. It's a cute way to add one more picuture to the page.

We bought my son, Dallas, a "Little man's tool kit" at Lowes a few months back, and ever since we have built all kids of things. I think everyone on our street now has a Dallas made birdhouse or birdfeeder, LOL. At least he is learning a skill and having a good time doing it.
I am super pround of myself with this page. I set out to re-create the Lowe's logo, and I think I did a pretty good job. It took me a little time and the cricut craft room, but I got it done. I used craft room basics to make the Lowes sign by layering basic shapes until I had the outline. I used the cricut cartridge: Handman to cut out the hammer and nails. I really don't like my handwritting, so I printed the title and the journaling block using my laptop. The best part is that other than the background paper, everything else was made using paper from my scrap stash, including the transparent paper. Materials Used: Cricut: Handyman (hammer and nails) and Craft Room Basics (Lowe's Logo) Paper: The Paper Studio: Little Boys and Their Toys paper pack Font for text: Berylium These pictures take me back....oh, about 4 years. I took these in 2008, when my son, Dallas, was only a year old. He loved to kick the piles of leaves in the yard, so one day I gave in and let him roll around in them. He couldn't even walk yet, but had the best time. I am entering my scrapbook page in the Cricut Fanatics Cricut Crafty Challenge #3. The goal, was to create a project, using the picture as inspiration, using the color orange, and at least one cricut cut. For my scrapbook page, I cut out, what seemed like a thousand fall leaves, using the Cricut cartridge, Doodlecharms. The background paper is from Colorbok's Earthtones paper pack, and quote is a rub-on (sorry I don't know who the maker is, I haven't always been as good as keeping up with product makers). I used 4 differnt colors for the fall leaves: red, orange, yellow, and a brown. I love the tree background paper and the leaves falling from the top of the page, it screams fall to me!
